IIM-A, the dream institute of every management aspirant was conceived not to be purely a business school, but a school of management. The Student housing is divided into 20 dormitories, each capable of accommodating 25-40 students in independent rooms. The excellent sports and fitness facilities on the campus ensure that students can remain fit and healthy to take on the strenuous academic challenges.

The library of the institute- Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Library offers excellent learning environment to students and academicians. The library has nearly 180,000 volumes, 600 current periodicals, 700 CDs and more than 2000 working papers and dissertations.

It also provides indexing search services from a number of major databases like ABI/Inform, Econlit and BSP. The IT infrastructure of the institute is very strong. A state-of-the-art network with almost 1600 nodes connects every corner of the Institute.

The Institute is located in the industrial city of Ahmedabad which is also the capital of Gujarat. Ahmedabad is known for its textile industry and is the prime city of Gujarat, one of the most industrially developed states of India. Gujarat is also known for its enterprising people. Ahmedabad is home to several reputed educational institutions and research institutes. Programmes

Post Graduate Programme in Public Management and Policy (PGP - PMP)

The Post Graduate Programme in Public Management and Policy (PGP-PMP) is one year full time residential programme for executives who have atleast 7 years of work experience.

The programme is open to bright and motivated mid-career managers and administrators / professionals of NGOs of all nationalities who intend to take up challenging top management positions in public management and policy. With strong foundations in the conceptual and analytical dimensions of management and policy, the curriculum is also designed to build on the experience of participants. The candidates belonging to Asian and African countries are especially invited to apply for this programme.

Eligibility

· Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in any discipline with at least 7 years of work experience.
· A Percentile score in GMAT/GRE/CAT.

Admission

· A score in CAT / GRE / GMAT is essential for admission into this programme. However the score will serve the purpose for getting shortlisted for interview round and does not admission.
· Candidates without GMAT/GRE/CAT may also apply but they will be short listed on the basis of application rating for a specially designed test at IIMA.

Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM)

The Post Graduate Programme offered at IIM Ahmadabad prepares competent managers leverage with analytical tools and business philosophies. The participants of this programme mined their true potential and discover interpersonnel skill while fine-tunning on the social purpose in managerial decision making.

The IIM Ahemadabad has tie-ups with a number of institutions abroad under student exchange programme. Every year about one quarter of PGP candidates spend one term in these institutions. Similarly, the students of corresponding institution visits IIM Ahmedabad for one term.

The summer internship is another feature of PGP programme. The eight week summer training programme provides student an opportunity to work with some company of repute and hence gain actual work experience.

Companies both from India and abroad come to IIM Ahmedabad every year for campus recruitment. The students of this programme get work opportunity in high positions at Indian and International corporations and institutes.

Eligibility

Qualification:

A candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. A 5% relaxation in marks is given for Schedule Castes / Schedule Tribes / Physically Handicapped category candidates. Candidates appearing in final qualifying examination can also apply, given they should produce the certificate of passing the qualifying examination with condition laid by the IIM admission committee.

Reserved Seats:

As per the Government of India requirement- 15% seats are reserved for SC and 7½% for ST category candidates, respectively.3% seats are reserved for Persons with Disability (PWD).

Admission procedure

For Indian Nationals- Percentile score in Common Admission Test (CAT) is necessary for admission into this programme. While for those candidates who are living abroad or native of any other country, a percentile score in Graduate Management Aptitude Test - GMAT is acceptable.

Possessing scores in CAT / GMAT does guarantee admission. The GMAT / CAT score serves the purpose for short listing of a candidate for Group Discussion / Interview etc. The Final admission is made on the basis of overall performance.

Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives (PGPX)

The PGPX is a full time residential programme for executives with substantial work experience leading to a One Year Post-Graduate Diploma in Management for Executives.

The institute accepts Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) score for admission to this programme.

Placements

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad is a reservoir of management professionals' supplies. A number of recruiters- CEO's and H.R. Managers, both from India and abroad visits IIM Ahmedabad, every year for appointing professionals at responsible positions in their respective companies. Common Admission Test (CAT)

Admission Process : Common Admission Test conducted by IIMs is an important input in the admission process and is primarily the basis of short listing candidates for the second round of admission process which is based on group discussions and/or personal interviews.The candidates should note that it is important for them to perform well relative to other candidates in each of the three sections of the test as the scores of each section and the overall score are used to short list the candidates for the second round and may also be used for final ranking as well. In addition to the performance in CAT, IIMs may use academic performance, relevant work experience and other similar inputs for ranking and short listing the candidates for group discussions and personal interviews.
