The curriculum is continuously reviewed and updated based on a thorough review of the program and the changing demands of the industry. The program is run under the aegis of the Center for Software and Information Technology Management (CSITM). The modular design of the program allows participants to tailor (within certain parameters) the sequence of courses. After completion of the first year, participants have the flexibility to be away from the program for one or more quarters if necessitated by work-related assignments. This would, however, lead to a situation where a participant will take longer than three academic years to complete the program. Each participant is required to complete the stipulated credits of the program within a maximum of six academic years. The PGSEM has been structured around ten broad themes. Each theme consists of a set of core courses, which every participant is expected to take as part of the requirements of the diploma, and some electives. The core courses are distributed in the four quarters of the first year. Participants are expected to take electives for the remaining credits during the next six quarters. In addition to the core and elective courses, participants are required to do a compulsory 3-credit individual project on any industry of interest in order to gain domain experience. They can also do an additional 3-credit project course. Participants of the PGSEM , with the approval of their employers, can avail of exchange opportunities with the universities with which IIMB has exchange arrangements. In addition, participants can take courses in top universities when they are posted outside the country, and have the credits transferred to the PGSEM . PGSEM in Chennai The
PGSEM has been offered at the IIMB Campus in Bangalore since 1998. In
cooperation with the partner companies Intel Technologies India Pvt Ltd.,
Motorola India Electronics Pvt. Ltd., Oracle India Pvt. Ltd., Sasken Communication
Technologies Ltd., Sun Micro Systems India Pvt. Ltd. and Wipro Technologies
Ltd., the program has achieved considerable maturity. With the support
of Infosys Technologies Limited, the PGSEM in Chennai has been offered
from the academic year 2005-2006, to make PGSEM accessible to a larger
group of software and information technology professionals. The program
is open to candidates from any company, but will be offered at the Mahindra
City campus of Infosys Technologies Limited. The program in Chennai is
the same as that offered in Bangalore . Admission procedure to PGSEM Candidates will be short-listed based on the CAT or GMAT scores, or the scores of a separate PGSEM Test that will be conducted in Bangalore and Chennai on March 02, 2008. Interviews will be conducted for the short-listed candidates both in Bangalore and Chennai. Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM) The two-year Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM) of IIMB has entered its sixth year. Catalyzed by the Government of India and UNDP in the year 2002, the PGPPM was conceived as a pioneering programme in public policy designed by India’s leading business school. The programme presents an innovative and socially relevant approach to public policy, besides being power packed with path breaking insights about winning policy making and management strategies. Eminent academicians and practitioners from IIMB and overseas share inputs on how to mobilize participants’ intangible assets - talent, knowledge, relationship and reputation to draw up a coherent strategy to meet the needs of the emerging global and national arenas. PGPPM also allows participants’ the opportunity to specialize in a policy area of your choice. In the preceding five years, 119 participants belonging to the All India Services and Central Services Group “A” have successfully underwent the programme. Some of our alumni are on assignments in frontier areas such as Infrastructure Financing, Regulations, Public-Private Partnerships and in management of key Social Sector Projects. For government officials participation is sponsored by Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India. PGPPM
participants with requisite CGPAs have the option to pursue the Fellow
Programme (Doctoral Programme) in the Institute. This opportunity has
been availed by some of our successful participants belonging to All India
Services and Central Services Group “A”. With effect from
2008-2009 academic year, it is proposed to open the programme to eligible
non-government participants as well. PGPPM
aims to enhance the competence of participants by: EXECUTIVE PROGRAMMES Open Management Traditional Management hierarchies are crumbling as more dispersed and virtual organisations become the norm Global markets and global supply sources are affecting every organization, irrespective of size and nature. The intellectual content of work is changing dramatically. Organisations are striving to improve on their reaction time, the quality of their products/services, and their real cost in response to intense competitive pressure; managing horizontally across all the organizational functions is demanding new skills like managing ambiguity, collectivity and diversity. The needs of all stakeholders-employees, customers, suppliers, government, the community and the environment, are affecting business decisions. IIMB is responding to these requirements by preparing managers for the accelerating impact of technology on business and the changes in the competitive environment. International Management IIMB
has tie-ups with top international business schools for joint executive
development programmes. A cooperative venture of business schools in the
five countries of Canada, UK, France, India and Japan, the International
Masters Program in Practicing Management (IMPM) is a groundbreaking
programme that functions in an authentically international context. Every
possible aspect of the programme has been customized to concentrate on
the needs of participants and their companies. Deviating from the mould
of the functional 'silos' so common in management education, the Programme
is instead structured around managerial 'mindsets'.A programme in the
offing is the "Advanced Leadership Programme" (ALP). yet another
prestigious international programme offered jointly by IIMB with INSEAD
(Singapore Campus), Lancaster UK, and McGill Canada. The ALP is built
on the belief that executives need to step back and reflect on their own
experiences. It is authentically international : four schools from Asia,
Europe and North America host participants from these parts of the world.IIMB
also designs and conducts in-house management programmes for international
business organisations.
