| IIML at a glance The
Indian Institute of Management Lucknow was established
in 1984, by the Government of India, as a national level school of excellence
in management science. It was the fourth Indian Institute of Management
to be established in India after IIM Calcutta, IIM Ahmedabad, and IIM
Bangalore. It is situated at the outskirts of the historic and culturally
rich city of Lucknow. Campus It
has state-of-the-art computing and class-room facilities, supported
by an extensive library of books, journals, films, and databases. The
academic programmes of IIML are fully residential. The serene and pollution
free campus is well equipped to meet all the essential requirements
of its residents. The campus is spread across 200 acres (0.81 km²)
located on the outskirts of Lucknow off the Lucknow-Sitapur road. It
also has a satellite campus, located at NOIDA, developed primarily for
executive education. In IIML, about 50% of the students come with prior work experience. More than 80% of students are from engineering background coming mainly from premier engineering colleges of India like IITs, NITs, DCE, NSIT, BITS, MGIT etc.
It
has many committies and clubs for the students. The six core committees
are Placecom, Manfest, Index, Alcom, Media Relations (MRC) and Industry
Interaction (IIC). Library facility The
library has a collection of about 35,000 books, 600 periodicals,900
E-Journals in different areas of management embracing social, political
and economic environment. It remains open round-the-clock, all days
of the week, including Saturdays and Sundays except for gazetted holidays. IIML - Noida Campus The Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow was set up by the Government of India, with the aim to help improve the management of corporate and non-corporate sectors and public systems, through pursuit of excellence in management education, research, consulting and training. It is the first IIM to start an additional campus in the country. The NOIDA Campus is being developed as a centre of excellence in the area of executive education. It is the IIML way of contributing to the industry and realizing its vision to remain at the forefront of management thinking and education. This campus will be a vibrant nodal centre for post experience management education, research, consulting and corporate training.
The
two-year Post Graduate Programme in Agribusiness Management is a full
–time residential course designed with the specific objective
of developing agribusiness leaders, entrepreneurs, and intrapreneurs
with a vision, competence and appropriate attitude for promoting/ growing
agribusiness and agro-based enterprises with a strong international
orientation.
The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is a doctoral level programme of the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow. The programme offers a unique opportunity to those who wish to brighten their research and teaching talents. It is designed to develop high quality teachers, researchers and management thinkers by providing an opportunity for inter-disciplinary education and research in management. The highly academically interactive environment at the Institute helps students to develop and sharpen their intellect. The Instititute’s unique pedagogy and programme structure provide enriching environment for personal and professional growth. Over a period of eight years since the launch of the FPM during 2000-01 the Institute has successfully created a stimulating and intellectually motivating academic environment for the benefits of students. Eligibility The
ideal candidates for the Fellow Programme are those who possess strong
academic background, preferably with professional experience, and intellectual
curiosity and discipline needed for scholarship in management. Age Limit Candidates must not exceed 45 years as on 30th June, 2008. Selection Procedure
Candidates who fulfill the above eligibility criteria stated above are
required to take Common Admission Test (CAT) held by the IIMs. Alternatively,
those who have qualified GATE, GRE, GMAT and JRF (UGC/CSIR) examinations
can also apply in the relevant area of specialization. Scores of any
of these examinations including CAT taken during the last two years
(i.e., or after 01 July, 2006) will be considered valid. Candidates
who have already obtained a two-year PGDM from any of the IIMs with
a minimum CGPA of 6.0 on a 10 point scale are exempted from this requirement,
and can apply directly through the prescribed Application Form. Such
applicants are also eligible to get a waiver of the first year course
work and can directly join the second year of the programme. Programme duration Students are expected to complete the programme in four years. However, under special circumstances extension of two more years may be granted. The students spent their first two years for course work and the last two years for research and thesis preparation. FPM is a full-time residential programme. However, management teachers and working executives have option to choose a flexible time frame to complete the two years’ thesis work. They are allowed to complete the two years' course work in four time slots of July-Dec/Jan-June within a total span of four years. These time slots may have breaks in between. Moreover, certain relaxations on the two years residential requirement for thesis work are also considered on the basis of merit of the case. However, they are required to complete all the requirements of Fellow Program within six years from the date of registration. Financial aid In IIML all FPM students are provided with a monthly stipend of Rs.15,000/- during the first two years and Rs. 17,000/- plus some financial incentives depending on their involvement in academic duties such as teaching, grading etc during the third and fourth years. The students are also eligible to get liberal grant for buying book/hardware/software etc. and for attending national and international conferences. In addition to these, they are exempted from fees, provided with free lodging facilities. NRIs and foreign candidates will be required to bear all the expenses including the tuition fee. Final year students are eligible to apply for the Bharti Foundation Scholarship of Rs. 4 lacs. Management development programme(MDP) The
Management Development Programme (MDP) proves IIM Lucknow’s path
towards becoming a totally integrated Institute with a global presence.
It’s objective is to help improve management systems by providing
relevant training to executives of all levels in the industry, government
and non-government sectors to take on a leadership role in their position
individually and collectively. The focus of all activities at Manthan,
the MDP block, is to give participants the perspectives required to
revolutionize the way an enterprise achieves its objectives. Its ten
state-of-the-art class rooms, computer centre and library are equipped
to be the melting pots of a host of different viewpoints and ideas.
This, in turn, helps create leaders who are aware of and ready to take
on the challenges faced by their organizations. International Programme in Management for Executives(IPMX) The International Programme in Management for Executives (IPMX), an one-year residential executive programme would be launched in April 2008 at the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow-NOIDA Campus. It is designed for mid/senior level professionals, to prepare them for leadership roles. The programme is designed to develop business education that is grounded in the Indian and international business environment. It will accelerate understanding of business at functional and strategic levels, and prepare students to manage enterprises engaged in global business. The curriculum would focus on a strategic understanding of business, rooted in practical skill development through action learning projects and industry interface. A core component of the programme is an international module of 4-5 weeks at Faculty of Management, McGill University, Montreal Canada which will provide students with the opportunity for an international learning experience to equip them with the knowledge and perspective relevant to current global business issues. The programme would be rigorous as well as rewarding as it would provide ample opportunity for personal development and professional growth through inquiry and insight in an interactive learning environment. NOIDA being the hub of commercial and industrial activity, the locational advantage of the NOIDA Campus would also extend to the learning process where industry related assignments and real management contexts form an integral part of the course curriculum. The delivery is oriented towards best practices, an integrated strategic perspective, project work and constant engagement with industry The Corporate Resource Centre of the Institute would facilitate in providing placement services for non-sponsored students.
