IIT MADRAS
Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is one among the foremost institutes of national importance in higher technological education, basic and applied research, is located in Chennai, tamilnadu. It is regarded as one of the finest engineering institutions in India. It was founded in 1959 with technical and financial assistance from the Government West Germany. IITM was established by the Government of India through an Act of Parliament, with the objective to provide world-class education and research facilities in engineering and technology.
Prof. Humayun Kabir, Union Minister for Scientific Research and Cultural Affairs formally inaugurated the institute, in 1959.IIT Madras is typicaly a residential institute with nearly 460 faculty, 4500 students and 1250 administrative & supporting staff and is a self-contained campus located in a beautiful wooded land of about 250 hectares.

IIT Madras is located in the city of Chennai, the state capital of Tamilnadu, a southern state in India. it is also the fourth largest city in India and comparatively a new city, about 350 years old. The city was formerly known as Madras
IIT Madras institute is situated on Sardar Patel Road and is flanked by Adyar, Taramani and Velachery. it is opposite to the Central Leather Research Institute and Anna University. The campus is spread over 250 hectares of green forest, which is midway between the Chennai Airport and Central Railway station. Good communication facility to the institute is one of its advantages..
The campus is around 14 Kms from the Central Railway station. Adyar is the nearest bus terminus to the campus. The Institute is located around 2.5 Kms inside the campus

Programmes in IITM are basically two types:research based and course based degree programmes.

Student take admission in post graduate courses on the basis of their perfortmance in GATE(Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering )

MSc curriculum

JAM: The Joint Admission to M.Sc. is the entrance exam used to govern admission to post graduate science programs at the IITs.

MBA Curriculum

JMET: The Joint Management Entrance Test is the entrance exam used to govern admission to the MBA programme at the IITs. It is followed by a group task & Personal Interview.
